Overview

The department of Biology was started in 1952. Under Biology Department, only intermediate course was started. The department of Botany was started in the year 1973, B.Sc course in Botany was introduced. The department was upgraded as a PG Department in 1988 and M.Phil course was started in 2003. The department was recognized as a research centre in 2009.
